Abstract
Riemerella anatipestifer (RA) is a causative agent of septicemia in ducks, leading to significant economic losses in the duck farming industry. Vaccination is the most effective measure for disease prevention in duck populations. However, due to the diversity of serotypes and limited cross-immunity between them, the development of multivalent vaccines is essential. In this study, we investigated adjuvants, administration routes, and dosages for a bivalent vaccine using two RA bacterial strains from two different serotypes commonly found in Vietnam. The results showed that both aluminum hydroxide and Montanide ISA 71 VG are suitable adjuvants for RA antigens in producing vaccines to prevent septicemia in ducks. The appropriate administration route for the septicemia vaccine is intramuscular injection, and the suitable dosage for 2-week-old ducks is 0.5 mL per duck. We successfully produced 05 vaccine batches for preventing duck septicemia.
