Abstract
Roses account for 30 - 35% of the country's cut flower growing area and bring economic efficiency many times higher than other crops. Currently, rose varieties in Vietnam are abundant and diverse. The study of agro-biological characteristics, the growth and development ability of rose varieties in different ecological regions will improve the rose’ yield and quality, and improve farmers’ livelihoods. The experiment was conducted to evaluate the growth and development of 4 rose in 2019 and 2020 in Me Linh, Hanoi. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. Results showed that the Hong Nhung (China), the Hong Trang Su (USA) and the Hong Phan (China) variety were good growth and development. These varieties were less susceptible to pests and diseases and the percentage of effective germ, durability of cut flower and flower size of these varieties were higher than Hong Do France (control treatment) variety. Therefore, they are eligible for mass production in Me Linh. In particular, Hong Nhung variety has a branch length of 78.1 cm and a branch diameter of 0.74 cm, which is suitable for export criteria of cut flower.
